Following a 2-1 victory over Augsburg College on Oct. 28, the St. Olaf men’s soccer team has claimed the regular season MIAC title. The title is the sixth in St. Olaf history and the second since 2011.
St. Olaf sits at 23 points, four points clear of nearest rivals Gustavus Adolphus College and Carleton College. With only one game remaining in the regular season, the Oles’ lead is too great for either foe to overcome.
The Oles’ success has been built on the back of several key performers. Forward Jens Undlin ’16 has scored 13 goals, three more than any other player in the conference. Kevin Skrip ’16 has seven goals, also providing a vital contribution up front for the Oles.
St. Olaf will face rival Carleton College on Nov. 1 in the final regular season game. The game will take place at the Knights’ Bell Field at 1:00 p.m. Despite having the title wrapped up, the game holds great meaning for the Oles. The last time the two teams met, Carleton ended St. Olaf’s season on Rolf Mellby field in the MIAC semi-finals with a 1-0 win.
St. Olaf will then look towards its first MIAC playoff game, which will be hosted on Rolf Mellby Field on Nov. 4.
