After 29 years at St. Olaf, Vice President for Student Life Greg Kneser will be leaving the college this spring, according to an email sent to students on Wednesday, March 7.
“I have been considering this for some time, and for many reasons, the timing seems right for me and my family,” Kneser wrote in an email to faculty and staff. “I am grateful for the contributions that so many have made to the lives of students at St. Olaf, and it has been a great honor to serve with you.”
When exactly Kneser will leave has yet to be determined, but President David Anderson ’74 anticipates that it will be near the end of the academic year.
The administration will use the transition to “review how our Student Life Division is organized and how it does its work,” Anderson wrote in his email to students. He added “there will be many opportunities for the important voices of students, faculty and staff to provide input into this process.”
During the transition Dean of Students Roz Eaton will lead the Student Life Division and report directly to Anderson.
