The weekend of Oct. 5, nine Ole teams competed on the hill and around Minnesota. Men’s golf and Men’s and Women’s tennis rounded out their fall seasons, while the other teams are still getting geared up for their respective MIAC championships, and maybe beyond. Here’s what you missed.
Women’s Cross Country: The Women’s XC team raced the Running of the Cows invitational at Carleton College on Oct. 5, with an overall finish in 4th place, despite being ranked 16th. Amongst MIAC schools only, the Oles finished 2nd behind the Carleton Knights. Lauren Walda ’26 was the top finisher for the Oles in 5th overall, followed by Grace Moeller ’26 and Abi Lindquist ’28 in 25th place, with a PR time of 23:23.5.
Men’s Cross Country: The Men’s XC team was also across town this weekend at the Running of the Cows invitational, where they won the race overall! The Oles had 8 finishers in the top 40, across a field of 23 schools and 315 runners. Kevin Turlington ’26 placed 4th with a time of 24:58.2, followed by Andrew Skemp ’25 in 6th with a time of 25:10.1.
Women’s Golf: Two Weekends ago over Sept. 28 to Sept. 30, the Women’s golf team rounded out their season with the MIAC Championships in St. Cloud, finishing 7 of 10 teams. The team was led by Anneliese Carlson ’26 with a score of 247 (+31).
Men’s Golf: The Ole Men’s Golf team finished their fall season at the MIAC Championships in Edina, Minnesota. The team placed 7 of 9 teams, and were led by Isaac Schmidt ’26, who placed 5 in a 5 way tie. The team’s composite score was 942 over 54 holes.
Women’s Tennis: The Ole Women’s Tennis team played Concordia College at home at the Carlson Courts. Olha Zubarieva ’25, Jane Spading ’25, Fiona O’Flaherty ’25, and Alexandra Berns ’26 finished 2-0 to take the win over Concordia College, for the 25th win in a row since 2003.
Men’s Tennis: The Men’s Tennis team also played Concordia College in Northfield at the Carlson Courts, and also walked away with a win over Concordia. The team was led by Bogdan Vizoli ’26 who won No. 1 singles and Lou Smith ’28 who won No. 3 singles, as well as No. 1 doubles together.
Women’s Soccer: Over homecoming weekend, the team was away from home, playing Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota. The team was able to win the game 1-0, with the only goal being scored by Chloe Valleau ’26 in the 2nd half. Before the game, Valleau was named the MIAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Men’s Soccer: The Men’s team was also in St. Paul matched up against Macalester College. The Oles were able to win the game with 5-1, with Shea Bechtel ’25 scoring the 3rd and 4th goals, and his younger brother Ryan Bechtel ’27 scoring the final goal, as well as Caspar Olseth ’26 and Dimitri Nair ’26 scoring the first and second goals respectively.
Women’s Volleyball: The Ole Volleyball team was in Winona Minnesota, playing St. Mary’s College last weekend. The team won all three sets, and won the game. Lilah Van Scoyoc ’26 made a team-best 12 kills and 10 digs during the game.
Men’s Football: At Klein Field at Manitou, Men’s football won 41-6 over Hamline University, to an elated crowd of over 1,200 teammates, students, parents, and Alumni. This victory continues the team’s 4-win streak, which leaves spirits very high. Theo Doran ’25 played a part in five of the Ole’s six touchdowns, before exiting the game in the 3rd quarter.
