David DeLong
David DeLong was previously on the Council for two terms beginning in 1993, and then ran again and sat on the Board from 2013 to 2020 as City Council 2nd Ward. He is running again after losing the Ward 2 seat in 2020 and failing to win the at-large seat in 2022. According to an interview with KYMN, he was inspired to run again seeing the runaway spending and tax levy increases. He looks to cut down on unnecessary “special projects” and wants to bring spending and tax increases back under control.
Brad Ness (Incumbent)
Brad Ness was first elected to the City Council in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020. In an interview with KYMN, Northfield’s local radio station, Ness shared he wants to stay in office as he has learned the balance between getting Northfield needs fulfilled while still listening to some of its citizens’ wants. According to Ness, listening is a valuable skill, and he highlights that listening to constituents is important to him, even if he can’t meet all of their needs. For Ness, voting for a tax increase is necessary to cover the debts incurred by the City, as well as because 7.7% of the levy supports City Personnel.
