St. Olaf Volleyball has had a tournament-heavy start to the season, travelling all around to test themselves against non-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) competition. Starting in August, Volleyball has traveled to compete in Claremont, Ca., St. Paul, Minn., and Dubuque, Iowa. So far, the early season has been testing St. Olaf Volleyball, recording both wins and losses in every tournament.
Throughout all the tournaments, St. Olaf Volleyball has played well, with many losses being tight at 2-3, and many 3-0 wins against unranked opponents. St. Olaf Volleyball has lost three of their five matches against ranked opponents, but did see a 3-1 win against #17-ranked Millikin University at the KTIS Classic in St. Paul.
This past weekend was the Carleton-St. Olaf Invitational, where the Oles had a clean sweep, winning all three games. On Sept. 19, St. Olaf Volleyball took on the University of Chicago, winning 3-2 and securing their first-ever victory against the Maroons. Then, the team had a double-header on Saturday, starting off the day by sweeping Wartburg College 3-0, and then following up by knocking off #1-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with another 3-0 win.
These early-season tournaments are only the beginning, preparing St. Olaf Volleyball for the rest of the season. There are still plenty of opportunities to watch St. Olaf Volleyball at Skoglund Center in MIAC competition.
