How long have you been playing volleyball? What got you started playing?
I started playing volleyball in 7th grade. My mom encouraged me to attend a summer volleyball camp, and I immediately fell in love with the sport.
This past weekend, you competed in the St. Olaf-Carleton Invitational and had a cleansweep. How did that feel? Do you have any highlights from this weekend?
This weekend was amazing. It felt like the first time we consistently played to our full potential as a team. Everything just clicked, and it was exciting to see our hard work pay off.
How do you plan to keep this momentum going through the rest of the season (personally or as a team)?
For the team, sticking to our strengths and playing our game will be key. Whitewater showed us what we’re capable of, and now it’s about maintaining that focus and energy. Personally, I perform best when I concentrate on my own game and our team as a whole, rather than worrying about what the other team does. Keeping that mindset will help us stay consistent and continue to succeed.
Is there any one moment that has stuck out to you so far this season?
The Whitewater game was definitely a highlight — it was the first time in program history that we defeated the number-one-ranked team, and we did it in a sweep. Another standout moment for me was the California tournament, where we went to five sets against [University of] La Verne, who has been a top-ten team all season. Beyond specific games, I think our team culture this season has been incredible. We genuinely support each other, rally together, and grow stronger as a team through both the highs and lows.
How has St. Olaf Athletics helped you find a place here?
My closest friends at St. Olaf are on the volleyball team. Spending so much time together — through practices, games, wins, and losses — has created a special bond. We share the sport we love and support each other both on and off the court, which has helped me feel at home here.
