
Hello, lovely Mess readers! Every year, my dad makes this absolutely delicious caramel apple cake for our Thanksgiving dessert, so I just had to share it with you. Enjoy!
Ingredients (cake):
½ cup neutral oil
½ cup applesauce
2 cups sugar
2 whole eggs and 2 egg whites
1 tbsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground clove
2 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp allspice
½ tsp salt
3 cups thinly sliced apples
Instructions (cake):
Mix sugar, oil, and applesauce together.
Add eggs, egg whites, and vanilla and continue mixing.
Once fully mixed, add all of the dry ingredients and mix fully.
Add the apples into the mix.
Grease and flour a bundt pan.
Bake for about 45 minutes, then test with a toothpick to ensure it has been fully baked.
Ingredients (caramel):
1 ½ cups unsalted butter
1 ½ cups brown sugar
6 tablespoons heavy cream
3 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions (caramel):
Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan.
Bring to a boil for about a minute, let cool, then serve over the cake.
