The St. Olaf Intramural Sports Program finished its fall season with many wins across the 18 sports offered. This fall Goat F.C., the intramural soccer team, won in their sport alongside Spikeball who won in the one-day spikeball tournament. Goat F.C. Captain Myo Naing ’27 and Spikeball Captain Ben Zupfer ’27 share in an interview with The Olaf Messenger insight as to how they won within their respective sports.
Q: Why did you choose your sport?
Naing: I’ve been playing soccer since I was four years old and it’s very important to me.
Zupfer: I could only commit to just one afternoon and it was a one-day tournament which was really interesting, so I ended up signing up with a buddy from physics class. I liked it when I played at grad parties before.
Q: What were your goals with this season?
Naing: My goal was [to focus on] teamwork and being able to bring people together. We make more friends and stay connected through soccer.
Q: How were you successful this season?
Naing: We won all the regular and play-off games that we were in. We are playing [indoors] and will keep playing for future seasons, hopefully adding freshmen in.
Zuper: A lot of it is knowing how many times you want to set the ball for each other, and communicating calls and serves. You need to know exactly where you want to place the ball.
