The Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Teams were at Carleton College for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Competition Championships (MIAC), on Oct. 28 where the men’s team won with a combined time of 2:04:52, and the women’s team finished second with a combined time of 1:49:15.5.
In the Women’s six kilometer race, Lauren Walda ’26 was the Oles’ best finisher in fifth place with a time of 21:54.5. Katie Gebert ’24 was eighth with a time of 22:11.5. Bella Call ’24 and Julia Everest ’24 finished eleventh and twelfth with times of 22:27.4 and 22:29.4 respectively. Grace Moeller ’26 rounded out the top 15 in fifteenth place with a time of 22:50.2. All five women earned All-MIAC Awards for their races, making this season the third in a row the Oles have had five racers in the top 15.
In the men’s eight kilometer race, Will Kelly ’24 finished first on the team and second in the race with a time of 24:41.3. He was followed closely by Kevin Turlington ’26 in sixth place and Andrew Skemp ’25 in seventh place with times of 24:56.8, and 24:57.3, respectively. In ninth, tenth, and eleventh were David Lynn ’24, Anders Cote ’24, and Sean Hartney ’25 with 25:06.0, 25:10.9, 25:23.8 respectively. Rounding out the top 15 was Ian Curtis ’24 with a time of 25:30.5. All seven men were recognized with All-MIAC Awards for their race.
After their astonishing races at MIAC Championships, the teams had one last race in Northfield called the Cannon River Closer, a five-kilometer race in the Natural Lands, where the athletes not competing at NCAA Regionals ended their season. The Men’s Team landed six racers in the top six, and the Women’s Team landed 12 racers in the top 12.
The teams are now headed on towards NCAA Division III Regionals, in Colfax, Wis.
