Erik Sahlin
Erik Sahlin, who grew up just outside of Nerstrand, is the son of a St. Olaf flute teacher and a woodworker. On the campaign website, sahlinfordistrictone.com, Sahlin shares his focus on protecting the Big Woods region and improving county government responsiveness. His decision to run was sparked by his involvement in a community effort to halt a proposed pit mine operation, during which he and his neighbors conducted research on environmental impacts and advocated for public participation. Sahlin emphasizes the need for better communication between the county and its residents, particularly on issues of health, safety, and environmental protection.
