Aries: Mars; the most explored planet by humans in our solar system and connected to the Roman god of war. This “red planet” is characterized by dust storms, canyons, volcanos, and polar ice caps; it’s dry, rocky, and brutally cold. There have been several missions to explore this planet to eventually get astronauts to it. The sight of the planet reminds those with a gift that winning is handed to one’s self because of the hard work one puts into their craft. Loyalty is a top priority in forming relationships. Those of this sign are true trail blazers of their own path in life; although they can be easily irritated, when one takes a look past the hard shell around them, they are truly kind and gentle souls.
Taurus: Jupiter; the largest gas planet in our solar system and connected to the Roman god of sky and thunder. The giant planet’s most obvious visual is its Great Red Spot, a huge and raging storm of pressure that’s been brewing for a century. This giant has 75 moons that circle it and a faint ring system similar to the other giant planets in our system. The presence of the striking force of thunder and the whimsy of the beautiful sky will create a magical exposure of life no one will ever experience unless one is friends with someone like this. Trustworthy, ambitious, and practical, no one is as sophisticated and dependable as a Taurus.
Gemini: Neptune; the last and furthest ice giant in our solar system and connected to the Roman god of fresh and seawater, known as Poseidon in Greek mythology. A striking, dark blue planet with faint but elegant rings that rest vertically with 14 known moons around them; it’s about 30 times as far from the sun as Earth is, unfortunately making it impossible for the naked eye to see. Yet while viewing this through other means like a telescope, it’s obvious and fascinating how someone could pass by the beauty of those who have access to this ice giant. Though sometimes overlooked, those who have the chance to be in its presence are granted with the highest level of emotional intelligence. They are great communicators and provide comfort to those who need it, but never forget that they deserve the same thing back to them: support and care.
Cancer: Haumea; the most uniquely shaped dwarf planet outside of our solar system and connected to nature, the creation of the natural world, and birth and growth of plants and animals. This meso-planet is oval/egg-shaped in nature and is the fastest rotating object in the Kuiper belt. Along with two known moons, it is the only object from the belt with rings circling its body. Though another frozen and frigid meso-planet, sensitivity and empathy will flow from the blood of those who hold the spirit of nature and creation of life. With a high level of natural intelligence, and a good sense of moral judgement, this is a true friend. Form an ever-lasting relationship with someone like this, and it will last a lifetime.
Leo: Venus; the hottest planet in our solar system and related to the Roman goddess of love, beauty, and victory. Reaching a scorching, burning temperature of 870 degrees Fahrenheit, its average surface temperature is because its atmosphere is trapping the greenhouse gases and heat from the sun on its surface. It has a diverse terrain of volcanoes, mountains, and ridged plateaus; its charming structure is shrouded in clouds of thick, toxic sulfuric acid. When viewing this planet, let the confidence surge through your veins, and continue to transfer that warmth to others that deserve it around you. Let one’s passion and artistic skills blaze a path, be proud of the work that’s been made, and show it off.
Virgo: Makemake; a dwarf planet outside of our solar system, close to Pluto and connected to the god of the Polynesian people of Easter Island, the creator of humanity and the god of fertility. It’s the largest dwarf planet in the Kuiper belt, beyond Neptune, and is associated with Pluto and the rest of the dwarf planets outside. This meso-planet has a rich and harsh rose-gold to reddish-brown color as it holds chilling, frozen methane and ethane. While viewing this faraway planet, keep one’s thoughts organized and thorough to get the job done effectively and efficiently.
Libra: Eris; a dwarf planet outside of our solar system closer to Pluto and connected to the Greek goddess of strife, chaos, and war. It’s the same size as Pluto and is similarly cold and frigid. It holds a tiny moon called Dysnomia, a symbol of this dwarf planet’s daughter, the demon goddess of unlawfulness. Although its energy of disorder and mayhem is embedded in the planet, remembering one’s own diplomatic and harmonious nature will guide one to a rich inner peace and develop deep connections with those around. Though there’s nothing wrong with dabbling in mischief and chaos once and a while for entertainment purposes, just try to be true to one’s self and make sure it’s for fun and the thrill of having a good time.
Scorpio: Ceres; a dwarf planet that lies in between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter and that is connected to the Roman goddess of agriculture. It’s the largest dwarf planet in our asteroid belt, was the first to be discovered, and is the only dwarf planet in our inner solar system. It’s fascinating that a large object like this could sit between two big planets in our own solar system, especially since the largest one is located in the asteroid belt. While looking upon this dwarf planet, let the influence of the goddess light a fire within one’s self and pave the way for one’s own path. Take care of yourself and let your authentic self shine and thrive.
Sagittarius: Saturn; a giant gas planet with gigantic beautiful rings and connected to the Roman god of time with the same name. The true prized jewel of the planet is, of course, the seven rings that wrap around it; the brilliantly bright rings shine like no other and are the most magnificent aspect of Saturn. The sight of Saturn and its gorgeous rings should put you at ease; with its guidance, time will surely be on your side for your passions and creativity. Let your own uniqueness show, and don’t be afraid to be yourself. Don’t feel any shame or embarrassment when showing one’s interests. With all of the stardust from this planet, enter into the imagination of your artistic and wonderful mind.
Capricorn: Uranus; the ice giant of the solar system and related to the Greek god of the sky, Ouranos. This planet rotates sideways and has about 13 rings around itself, the inner rings being more narrow and dark compared to the brightly colored outer rings. Its rings rest vertically, beautiful and vibrant, with 27 moons known to be orbiting around this frozen, blueish-green ball. While viewing this planet, make sure to thaw out your own heart and release any stress you may have. With the sky being your oyster, let your ambitions and dreams reach past the atmosphere and soar through the vast, ever-expanding universe. Don’t forget to take a step back, though — relax, slow down, and enjoy the small things.
Aquarius: Pluto; now a dwarf planet, is the coldest one in our solar system and is connected to the Roman god of the underworld, known as Hades in Greek mythology. This frozen ball of glaciers, mountains, and craters is truly fascinating because it has five moons, one of them about half the size of Pluto, and is called a “double planet.” When viewing this dwarf planet through a telescope, remind yourself that you are a warm and comforting soul, unlike your cold and rigid exterior. Ironically, one does not bring death like Pluto — one brings change and solidarity to ending something in one’s life and starting again. Don’t be afraid to move through challenges, and keep going to where you want to be.
Pisces: Mercury; the smallest planet in our solar system and connected to the Roman god of commerce and communication, Mercurius. Though the closest planet to the sun, it’s surprisingly cold because it does not have an atmosphere to trap the heat. The planet experiences both blazing hot and freezing cold temperatures. When this planet is visible to your naked eyes, let it be a reminder to slow down, take a breather, and stay grounded and true to yourself. Let the god of communication be your guide to form meaningful relationships — platonically, romantically, or with one’s self. Just know that your connections are valued and secure.
