Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment within your sport?
A: Last year, our women’s team won the overall USCSA [United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association] Nationals title. It was on my home snow, I scored for the team — which was shocking — and my parents got to be there for the first time in a long time.
Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment outside of your sport?
A: I gave a TEDx Talk. Please check it out. Actually, as soon as I gave it, I ran off stage to catch the plane and get to the national competition I just mentioned.
Q: If you could give the freshmen alpine skiers a word of wisdom, what would you tell them?
A: I can’t give any wisdom. We have some incredible freshmen, and I think they’re already figuring it out. They’re certainly doing a better job than I did back then.
Q: Who is your professional hype man?
A: John Waters. I’d follow that man into battle.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
A: It pleases me to carve ski tracks that resemble elliptic curves in a discretized two-dimensional vector space. Also Picasso.
Q: What is the reason, if you had to pick one, that you didn’t make it to the Olympics this year?
A: The team I wanted to represent wasn’t allowed to compete this year.
Q: As a senior, how are you planning to continue your sport post-grad?
A: Honestly, I’m going to be doing a lot of free skiing and a lot of backcountry stuff. I also hope to add some more Nordic skiing because all skiing is good skiing.
