This was my first time watching the men’s acapella group the Limestones at the Pause and, man, was it a total blast and really entertaining. This past Sunday, the Limestones performed a variety of songs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a good amount of people in the crowd to cheer them on during the performance. The whole hour was nothing short of pure fun, whimsy, and excitement with all of the songs they chose to sing for the audience.
Some of the songs included “Thriller” by Michael Jackson and a mashup of Christmas classics such as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” The show also featured a surprise performance from Agnes, the women’s a cappella group, who joined to support the Limestones and perform two songs of their own.
After a short intermission featuring the women’s a cappella group, the Limestones returned to the stage dressed as characters from the Muppets and performed several songs from the movies. The set was both entertaining and hilarious, featuring classics such as “The Muppet Show Theme,” “Man or Muppet,” “Rainbow Connection,” and “Mahna Mahna.”
Honestly, it was one of the funniest and best a cappella performances I’ve seen — pure enjoyment from start to finish. The group’s chemistry with each other and the audience made the show feel lively and effortless. I highly recommend supporting the Limestones whenever you can. If they host another performance or showcase, be sure to stop by and experience their talent firsthand. You never know what creative or comedic twist they might have planned next, and I’d gladly recommend the group to anyone looking to support student performers at St. Olaf.
