Following in the steps of Oprah, I have gifts for you, you, and you. You are all going to get small handmade prints. All for my lovely friends, who are probably thinking, “What the heck would I do with these mini artworks?” And honestly, I’m not sure either. But I made them just for you, personalized with sweat and tears. You can see my big neck bump from the hours I spent hunched over.
A while back, a student hosted a printmaking event that used materials from the Digital Scholarship Center at St. Olaf (DiSCO) in the library; however, I was only able to observe because of the limited materials they had. But it’s okay, because I’m a bit of an expert in printmaking. I started with a la dee da mindset, then shifted to a Pinterest collection of drawings I wanted to work with, and finally made prints of the meme “mhm I like you, have a cupcake” from the show “Fish Hooks.” The prints later became stuff to give for birthdays, or holiday gifts for my friends.
I love seeing their happy faces, and printmaking is a great way to procrastinate on schoolwork. If you’re my advisor, you didn’t read that.
