In the times we are living in, it can be difficult to find something to smile about. Many of us spend our days feeling sad, anxious, and hopeless about the future. So, this week, I went searching for the good. Anything that gives me a sense of comfort or happiness is included in this article in the hope that it brings a smile to your face as well.
Signs of spring are everywhere in Northfield. From the 50-degree days we’ve had in the past weeks to the reopening of the local Dairy Queen, students and staff have had more reasons to get outside and soak up the warm weather. I myself have enjoyed some time sunbathing on the benches on the Quad, spotting the robins as they return from the south, and watching Oles practice their hacky sack skills. I would encourage you to take advantage of the sunny spots around campus and get an extra vitamin D boost!
Another tell-tale sign of the changing season is the clock springing forward. Daylight savings time was on Sunday, March 8, and we all lost a precious hour of sleep. However, we gained an extra hour of light during the day, which gives us more time to spend outside in the sun. You might choose to spend the spare time in town, where you could check out the new spring menu released by Little Joy Coffee, Northfield’s cherished indie café, just this past week. They have five new drinks featuring a range of spring flavors, from the Rose Chai to the Raspberry Danish Latte. I can’t wait to try them all!
Finally, this coming weekend is the 58th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Minneapolis! Whether you choose to spend the day in the cities or in Northfield, you’re sure to have a blast. I hope that no matter what you do, you remember to look for the good.
