2026 SGA Presidential Forum

On Sunday, March 22, The Olaf Messenger hosted and moderated the 2026 Student Government Association (SGA) Presidential Forum as a way for the St. Olaf campus community to learn about the candidate teams: Declan Mears ’27 and Usman Mallick’27, Lily Spoerke ’27 and Annika Kirchmaier ’27, and finally Ankur Guragain ’27 & Luke Butler ’27. The forum was filmed by Executive Editor Kenzie Nguyen ’26 and moderated by Executive Editors Maya Betti ’27 and Ashlyn Wuench ’26.

Voting for the SGA Presidential Team will begin Tuesday, March 24 and goes until Thursday, March 26 on the SGA website or in-person at tabling events outside of the Cage on the following dates: March 24 from 3:00-6:00 p.m., March 25 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and March 26 from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Kenzie Nguyen, Executive Editor

Kenzie Nguyen is a senior English and Race & Ethnic Studies double major from Brooklyn Park, Minn. When not in the office, Kenzie enjoys going to a local coffeeshop in town, exploring various thrift and flea markets, watching sitcoms and movies, and chatting with her friends. If she doesn’t pursue journalism, Kenzie hopes to either teach abroad or open up her own jazz cafe/bookstore. By graduation, Kenzie hopes to be a local or national news reporter.

Ashlyn Wuench, Executive Editor

Ashlyn Wuench ’26 is an environmental studies major and education studies and applied linguistic concentrator from Springfield, Mo. She can typically be found not on campus during weekends exploring some wooded area several hours away. However, when on campus, she’s probably playing cribbage, doodling on any flat surface, making a smoothie with spinach and something fun and fruity, or just kinda goofing off and overall taking it easy. You can find her five minutes late to wherever she’s planning to be.

Maya Betti, Executive Editor

Maya Betti is a junior from Shoreview, Minn., majoring in English and political science. In her free time, Maya can be found reading memoirs of former NYT journalists, figuring out how to crochet, watching West Wing, and running long distances at unimaginably slow paces. After graduation, she hopes to attend law school or become a political journalist.
