Rory Gilmore, the main character from “Gilmore Girls,” lives in Stars Hollow. It is a beautiful small town constantly filled with pumpkins and falling leaves. She is always known to wear a sweater and have a cup of coffee or a book in her hand. Here are five activities, inspired by Rory, to give you the best autumnal experience this upcoming season!
- Go to an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch! In Northfield, there is Fireside Orchard and Gardens and the Bridgewater Farm. The weather is perfect, so throw on a sweater and spend the day picking apples or pumpkins.
- Create a themed dessert! If you do decide to head to an apple orchard, use those apples to bake a nice treat. Everyone loves a sweet and spiced apple crisp or cobbler! Not feeling the apples? You could use pumpkin instead! Pumpkin muffins and loaves are great semi-sweet treats, too.
- Host a bonfire night under the stars! A great way to end the night is with some friends and family around a nice bonfire. Listen to music, make s’mores, and spend time with your favorite people!
- Read a fall book! “Harry Potter” is always a classic. It is the perfect mix of adventure, fantasy, and nostalgia. Another classic is “Jane Eyre,” a mix of classic and gothic fiction. Not feeling those? “The Pumpkin Spice Cafe” recently became popular because of its lighthearted, small town romance.
- Watch a fall movie! Again, “Harry Potter” is a wonderful choice. What could get you in a better fall mood than a “Harry Potter” marathon? “Hocus Pocus” is also a Halloween classic. The perfect mix of adventure and comedy with your favorite witches.
These are my favorite things to do in the fall and I absolutely love them! There are tons of ways to get into the spirit, and hopefully these have inspired you to take on some new activities this spooky season.
