Hello, lovely Mess readers! Every year, my dad makes this absolutely delicious caramel apple cake for our Thanksgiving dessert, so I just had to share it with you. Enjoy!
Ingredients (cake):
½ cup neutral oil
½ cup applesauce
2 cups sugar
2 whole eggs and 2 egg whites
1 tbsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground clove
2 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp allspice
½ tsp salt
3 cups thinly sliced apples
Instructions (cake):
- Mix sugar, oil, and applesauce together.
- Add eggs, egg whites, and vanilla and continue mixing.
- Once fully mixed, add all of the dry ingredients and mix fully.
- Add the apples into the mix.
- Grease and flour a bundt pan.
- Bake for about 45 minutes, then test with a toothpick to ensure it has been fully baked.
Ingredients (caramel):
1 ½ cups unsalted butter
1 ½ cups brown sugar
6 tablespoons heavy cream
3 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions (caramel):
- Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan.
- Bring to a boil for about a minute, let cool, then serve over the cake.
