KSTO is St. Olaf’s own student-organized radio station on campus. They have a variety of shows that each bring their own element of fun and creativity to the radio.
One of these shows is “under the elm Tree,” which is on Sundays at 1 p.m. The show consists of three hosts, Larkin Dullea ’28, Mackay Campbell ’28, Emily Schmersal ’28, who share their favorite songs or songs that they have been liking as of recently.
On the Oct. 5 show, a few trending songs aired were “The Stranger” by Billy Joel, “Vodka Cranberry” by Conan Gray, and “Nobody’s Son” by Sabrina Carpenter. Each song brought its own vibe to the show and were different and similar to each other. “The Stranger” had heavy electric guitar and more funk, while “Vodka Cranberry” and “Nobody’s Son” were more modern and pop-like.
The hosts brought great energy to the show as well and often interacted with their listeners by posing questions such as “do you prefer Stav or Pause pizza?” or asking for people to call in with their own favorite song that they would like to share on air.
under the elm Tree was an absolute vibe and such a good listen.
