As the semester draws closer to an end and finals are ever-approaching, everyone on campus knows it is time to lock in. Yet, you may find yourself in need of a place to go. Here are some of my personal favorite spots to study, ranked, so that you can get your best work done.
My criteria used: I simply like them. I am picky with where I study and I do not know why. I have only ever studied in these three locations.
Third place: Your room or dorm lounge. This one is easy. With finals being an assignment everyone has to get done, oftentimes you will find that everywhere you want to study is completely full. When in doubt, study in your room. If you are like me and your room is your place to do anything other than homework, simply relocate over to your dorm’s lounge. It is close to home and usually available. The only downside is that it may not always be quiet.
Second place: Anywhere in Regents; specifically room 150 if it is available. A part of me wonders if I have Pavlov-dogged myself to enjoy studying in room 150 of Regents. Since I had psychology in that classroom last semester, I would always study for the psych exams in that room so I could associate what I studied with taking my exam. Now, I really love sitting alone in the back and studying for all my classes. If you want to feel out of touch with reality, study in room 150. If you do not, go anywhere else in Regents instead.
First place: Fourth floor of Rolvaag; the booths or that section off to the side with the bookshelves and single seats. My all-time favorite spot to study is the fourth floor of the library, specifically in the middle of the floor with a few booths lining the walls. One particular booth even aligns with the bookshelves to look across the room and out the window — this one is my favorite. I also love the section you walk straight into when coming up the back stairs. It has six single-seaters and plenty more bookshelves. I always feel like I get the most done here, because no one else usually joins you if you are sitting at one of the tables already.
