Students heading into interviews or professional events on campus now have a new resource at their disposal. Student Government Association (SGA) Senators Solveig Senf ’27 and Anna Grace ’26 have launched a blazer loan program at the Piper Center for Vocation and Career, giving students access to professional attire regardless of their budget or wardrobe.
The initiative arose from a problem observed on campus. “I had quite a few teammates within a one-month span ask me to borrow some professional dress,” Senf said. “I was involved in speech in high school, so I have a collection of blazers, but a lot of people don’t have them. So, we thought, ‘Why not fund a project to make it more accessible to everyone?’”
The rack is stocked with 12 classic black blazers, funded by $2,300 from the Student Senate’s Projects and Capital Fund. Women’s sizes range from zero to 20, and men’s sizes from 38 to 48. Both senators acknowledged the current selection doesn’t cover every size.
“Right now, we don’t have every single size because of funding,” Grace said. “But if it proves to be really helpful for students, in the future we could add more sizes.”
Students can visit the Piper Center and reserve a blazer through the same Google Calendar system used to book interview rooms. When the reservation time arrives, students can go to the front desk, where a peer advisor will direct them to the rack and have them fill out a brief form. Blazers can be checked out for up to five hours at a time, with exceptions made for early-morning interviews.
The Piper Center will dry clean the blazers between uses to keep them in good condition. For now, checkout is limited to on-campus activities and remote interviews.
